In Museums, exhibitions are the main mean of communication and cultural mediation that is established between objects, patrimonial testimonies of our collective heritage, and the public. Through them, and in an informal way, new experiences are provided, new spaces are opened for the exchange of knowledge and through education programs. New attitudes are promoted, developed and encouraged, new tables of values are (re) created, all in a welcoming – and most times even playful and relaxed environment. However, and as David Dean states in his Museum Exhibition, they are just the tip of the iceberg, the small visible portion of the entire collective, laborious and meticulous process of planning, preparation and execution. This report, written during the non-academic year to obtain my Master in Museology, intends to be a compilation of the actions observed and developed by the student, inherent to the conception and assembly of an exhibition. It begins with a brief contextualization of the museum where the internship took place. It interferes with the establishment of concepts and methodologies inherent to education processes in museums. And finally, it accompanies all the design stages of the exhibition “Dissonances. MNAC Collection: Acquisitions and Donations 2010-2020” which should have taken place from June 25 to October 4, 2020 at the National Museum of Contemporary Art; however, due to pandemic and financial constraints was consecutively postponed, and will be now opened from September 30 to November 15, 2020.
