Family-owned businesses are one of the pillars of many economies around the world. Similarly, in Kosovo, family-owned represent about 80 per cent of businesses. Therefore, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of the governance of Kosovo's family-owned small businesses. More specifically, it examines the relationship between family ownership and capital budgeting. The study was done using both primary and secondary research. The study is based on data collected through an online survey, semi-structured interviews, and literature. Among other findings, the author found that the more educated top management in family-owned businesses are more likely to employ sophisticated capital budgeting techniques.
