| dc.description.abstract | The environmental, social and governance factors, better known as ESG factors have been particularly important recently, specifically regarding investments that take them into account. Given the growing environmental, social and governance sustainability concerns, the so-called socially responsible investments have shown a growing trend, however, they are still quite unknown to investors. In this way, this dissertation aims to study the perception of Portuguese society regarding these investments, and essentially the tendency of individuals to invest in this type of asset, while also identifying possible barriers when investing in this sector. To this end, it is necessary to understand the current paradigm of ESG factors in the Portuguese system, reflecting on the growing challenges in terms of regulation at this level and, taking into account the existing legislation on this subject, to analyze the questions that these rules aim to answer for investors, in order to safeguard greater protection for them, namely in relation to the information made available to these potential investors, trying to prevent greenwashing from occurring. In this context, this dissertation also explores the characteristics and preferences of individuals in relation to socially responsible investments. The approach thus took the form of online questionnaires and subsequent statistical analysis. The results were subjected to statistical inference tests, thus substantiating the answers to the questions under analysis, particularly about the relevance of these factors when making decisions, allowing conclusions to be drawn regarding the evolutionary trend of this type of investment, as well as understanding the possible reticence of the Portuguese population towards these investments, mainly due to lack of knowledge or quality information on the part of the market. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Os fatores ambiental, social e governativo, mais conhecidos como fatores ESG dada a sua denominação em inglês, respetivamente, environmental, social e governance, têm tido bastante relevo nos últimos tempos, nomeadamente no que diz respeito a investimentos que os tenham em consideração. Dadas as crescentes preocupações ambientais, sociais e de sustentabilidade governativa, os denominados investimentos socialmente responsáveis têm revelado uma tendência crescente, todavia, existe ainda um grande desconhecimento dos mesmos por parte dos investidores. Desta forma, a presente dissertação pretende estudar a perceção da sociedade portuguesa relativamente a estes investimentos, e essencialmente a propensão dos indivíduos para investirem neste tipo de ativos, identificando ainda possíveis barreiras no momento de investir neste setor. Para tal, é necessário compreender o paradigma atual dos fatores ESG no sistema português, refletindo sobre os desafios crescentes em termos de regulação a este nível e, tendo em consideração a legislação existente ao nível deste tema, analisar as questões que estas normas visam responder perante os investidores, de modo a salvaguardar uma maior proteção dos mesmos, nomeadamente relativamente à informação disponibilizada a estes possíveis investidores, tentando evitar que ocorra o denominado greenwashing. Neste contexto, esta dissertação explora ainda as características e preferências dos indivíduos relativamente a investimentos socialmente responsáveis. Desta forma, a abordagem materializou-se na disponibilização de questionários online e posterior análise estatística. Os resultados que daqui advieram foram submetidos a testes de inferência estatística e dessa forma fundamentando as respostas às questões em análise, nomeadamente no que diz respeito à relevância destes fatores num momento de tomada de decisão, permitindo tirar conclusões relativamente à tendência evolutiva deste tipo de investimentos, assim como compreender a possível reticência da população portuguesa a estes investimentos, nomeadamente por desconhecimento ou falta de informação de qualidade por parte do mercado. | pt_PT |
