| dc.description.abstract | This research investigated the organization, delivery, and funding of suicide prevention in Portugal's National Health System, focusing on patient flows, resource allocation, and inefficiencies. Based on official reports and qualitative interviews with health professionals, it exposed key structural and procedural bottlenecks. Using a strategic management framework, this study analyzed the integration among different public care services. It also demonstrated that suicide rates in Portugal are striking variations in regions, age, and gender. Based on WHO and European practices, this study proposes practical steps to integrate care and prioritize suicide prevention. | eng |
