Resumo(s)
The purpose of this study is to explore how job control and role conflict affect employees’
burnout. It is argued that job control and role conflict are, respectively, negatively and positively
associated with employees’ burnout, and this effect is mediated by employees’ perceived stress.
Using a cross-sectional design with a sample size of N = 143, I found that job control and role
conflict have a direct effect on burnout and that perceived stress mediates the effect of role
conflict on burnout. This study advances our understanding of the triggers of burnout in a
simulation of a real work-environment.
