Atualmente, o desenvolvimento sustentável é, simultaneamente, um dos maiores objetivos, e um dos maiores desafios para a espécie humana. Desde a década de 70 até à adoção da Agenda 2030 da ONU, que este tem ganho crescente relevância nas agendas políticas internacionais, tendo-se tornado uma prioridade global. Em paralelo, têm sido feitos esforços por parte de várias organizações para que seja reconhecido o contributo da cultura para o alcançar. O presente relatório propõe-se a analisar este potencial, mais especificamente, do papel que os Setores Culturais e Criativos europeus podem desempenhar para alcançar os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Através da experiência de estágio no Gabinete de Estratégia, Planeamento e Avaliação Culturais, no âmbito da Presidência Portuguesa do Conselho da UE, foi possível testemunhar o profundo impacto que a pandemia teve no setor cultural, questão central que guiou as iniciativas desenvolvidas pela área governativa da cultura, visando a sua recuperação. Assim, este trabalho, não só analisa o seu contributo para alcançar os ODS, como também tem por objetivo relevar o papel essencial que estes setores podem desempenhar no futuro pós-pandémico, para alcançar um futuro verdadeiramente sustentável.
Currently, sustainable development is, simultaneously, one of the greatest goals and one of the greatest challenges for humankind. Since the 1970s, to the adoption of the UN 2030 Agenda, it has gained increasing relevance in international political agendas, having become a global priority. In parallel, efforts have been made by several organizations to recognize the contribution of culture to achieve it. The present report proposes to analyse this potential, more specifically the role that the Cultural and Creative Sectors can play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Through the internship experience in the Bureau for Cultural Strategy, Planning and Assessment, in the context of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU, it was possible to witness the profound impact that the pandemic had on the cultural sector, a central issue that guided the initiatives developed by the governmental field of culture, aiming at its recovery. Thus, this work, not only analyses its contribution to achieving the SDGs, but also aims to highlight the essential role that these sectors can play in the post pandemic future, in order to achieve a truly sustainable future.
