The use of photovoltaic systems as a source of power supply has entered a maturity phase. Nevertheless, there is still some room for improvement in certain areas, such as the accurate estimation of power output production during the project stage. There are different types of shading with distinct effects on photovoltaic energy production. These differences need to be taken into account when projecting a PV installation. The ECEN2026 is a PV module model, that enables the simulation of any existent solar panel, according to a set of parameters, which can be compared with real world installations, providing a mean to study the feasibility of hypothetical installation. The implementation and simulation of this model generates several outputs. In the presented context, an expression can be obtained, which correlates the annual power production with the severity of shading and the number of shaded panels. It also allows the plot of the IV and PV characteristic curves, aiming to optimize the maximum output power and, using different shading situations, to validate the model. R The model validation is possible due to the comparison between the obtained simulation results and practical implementations. One limitation of this model is the impossibility to simulate partly shaded modules.pt_PT
