Portuguese foreign policy throughout the twentieth century didn’t incorporate the territories of the Middle East as priorities on its agenda. However, its alliances and international integration in this timeline, transmit pieces of evidence that allow us to perceive the position of Portugal, as well as strategies and actions for this territory, which indirectly would end up being inserted into its foreign policy. Thus, the present research intends to analyse these Portugal-Middle East dynamics in unison with concepts such as Globalization and National Identity. Therefore, it is argued that these conceptions influence how certain states apply their foreign policy, which is mutable to internal and external factors. To this end, qualitative analysis and a historical and interpretative approach to the factors linked to this problem have been considered, based on an investigation of the content of documentary sources, crossing with the few bibliographic information that can be found. In short, we are seeking to fill a gap in the world of research with a concise analysis that portrays this vast reality and maybe allows us to open new paths for study. For that, we will identify the relevant events that connect Portuguese foreign policy to the Middle East, considering its European integration and political games, followed by the recognition of the influence of Globalization and National Identity.
