| dc.description.abstract | The present report is divided into two parts. The first deals strictly with the description of the internship, and the second with the main theme that was raised during the 4-month internship in the Direction of Services of the Middle East and Maghreb. In the first part, a characterization of this Direction is outlined, the plans and objectives, as well as the tasks performed are exposed, and a conclusion is presented. The second part begins with the selected theme of the legality of the use of force in conflict regions begins, with a special focus on the situation of Yemen, given the insufficient media coverage in relation to the relevance that this State has as at a regional and international level. In this Chapter, a brief characterization of the Middle East and Maghreb and the history of Yemen is presented, the second referred marked by divisions and conflicts between the north and the south throughout their existence. Then, according to the issues that are triggered in the light of the current conflict, the prohibition of the use of force and its exceptions are analysed and, finally, the possible violations of International Law and the Parties’ accountability are discussed. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | O presente relatório divide-se em duas partes. A primeira ocupa-se estritamente da descrição do estágio, e a segunda do tema central que foi suscitado no decurso do estágio de 4 meses na Direção de Serviços do Médio Oriente e Magrebe. Na primeira parte, procede-se a uma caraterização desta Direção, expõe-se os planos e objetivos, as tarefas desempenhadas, e é apresentada uma conclusão. Na segunda parte, inicia-se o tema escolhido da licitude do uso da força em regiões em conflito, com um especial enfoque na situação do Iémen, pela insuficiente mediatização aliada à incompatível relevância que este Estado tem a nível regional e internacional. Neste Capítulo, é apresentada uma breve caraterização do Médio Oriente e Magrebe, e a história do Iémen, marcada por divisões e conflitos entre o norte e o sul ao longo de toda a sua existência. De seguida, conforme as questões que são desencadeadas à luz do conflito atual, é analisada a proibição do uso da força e as exceções desta, e, por fim, discutidas quais as possíveis violações de Direito Internacional e as responsabilizações dadas às Partes. | pt_PT |
