Resumo(s)
Electronic voting systems (EVS) are an evolved technological voting method that has grown in
large part due to the application of information technologies. Because of the trend to use this system,
the main question of this research is to know what the factors are that drive citizens to adopt EVS?
Based on the responses of 299 individuals living in Portugal, we combined unified theory of acceptance
and use of technology and trust (trust in government and trust in internet) to understand the
behaviour intention (BI). With exception of performance expectancy and the moderator effect of trust
over the facilitating conditions to BI, all the hypotheses are supported. The factor contributing the
most to the intention of adoption is trust in the internet.
