What is the impact of mobile internet usage on citizen engagement and political participation
in Guinea Bissau? This paper seeks to address this question by utilizing data from Guinea
Bissau's 2018 inaugural public opinion poll and employing an instrumental variable analysis.
The results indicate that mobile internet usage enhances the probability of individuals
participating in political meetings, voicing their concerns through complaints to authorities,
and raises awareness concerning the prohibition of political dissent demonstrations.
