Resumo(s)
The present paper sought to answer the question: “ What is the impact that perceived barriers by patients have on the probability of self-medication?”.I used observations from 2706 individuals who resided in Portugal between 2013 and 2021and were older than 15 years old. Results show that Financial barriers on appointments had a positive and significant impact on the probability of self-medication and point towards leftover consumption. In the end, I discussed some limitations to these findings and the policy implications stemming from them, such as the need to fight leftover consumption.
