Resumo(s)
This work attempts to gain some insights about the structure of the market of printed media in Portugal, focusing on the impact of website provision of daily newspapers of general content. To that end I considered the market of a two-sided platform, estimating the effect of website introduction, decomposed in several stages and in each side of the platform.
The coefficients seem to be overestimated, but the signals and the dynamics are coherent with the market developments through the dataset and with other studies followed. The paper proves the effective existence of a link between the two sides of the platform and that the impact of websites affects each side differently: affecting more the circulation side, but in both sides a higher stage website means more substitution.
