Resumo(s)

This study explores how technology use affects people psychologically, highlighting how it may have a detrimental effect on mental health. Understanding how technology contributes to problems like anxiety, depression, and loneliness has become crucial as it becomes more and more ingrained in daily life. This study investigates the degree to which technology affects mental health, guided by four hypotheses and concentrating on certain behaviors like as social media use and demographic moderation. Targeting a broad sample of tech users, a quantitative approach was used with a structured questionnaire created in Qualtrics. Likert-scale items were used to gather data on the frequency, intent, and emotional results of technology engagement. The moderating influences of age, gender, and education were also examined. The purpose of this study is to determine whether excessive passive technology use, such as social media scrolling, is strongly associated with elevated anxiety and depressive symptoms. On the other hand, more favorable results were linked to deliberate and active use of technology, such as online collaboration or content production. Furthermore, these impacts are greatly moderated by demographic characteristics such as age and education. With the goal of increasing awareness and guiding solutions that support healthier technology usage, this study adds to the expanding conversation on the "dark side" of technology.
