To investigate systematic barriers and potential governance solutions, the study uses a combination of literature review and a quanti tative survey of executives, distributed via professional networks. The results, analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis, suggest that governance tools, when used strate gically, can significantly promote gender diversity in the boardroom. This study is a contribu tion to the ongoing debate on gender equality in corporate boardrooms and demonstrates the potential of governance mechanisms to change the landscape.engCorporate governanceGender diversityCorporate governance mechanismBarriersShareholder influenceCorporate governance as a catalyst: strategies for facilitating women´s progression to board leadershipmaster thesis203680367
