Pretende-se analisar, interpretar e refletir sobre a evolução e influência que a edição-mãe da revista (Vogue americana) exerce sobre a edição periférica que é a Vogue Portugal, de forma a que seja possível entender até que ponto a mesma é (ou não) autónoma, e/ou em que medida esta influência e dependência por parte da edição-mãe se fazem notar. Este confronto e paralelo entre as duas edições vem evidenciar que ainda que pertencentes à mesma marca, regem-se por uma coexistência de produção editorial distintas, onde cada uma desempenha um papel no universo editorial da revista. Se por um lado a Vogue USA perpetua o cânone e a matriz que as edições periféricas devem seguir (e que seguem, principalmente ao nível do layout e estrutura organizacional da revista), prezando nas suas publicações pelo que é conhecido do seu público, por outro lado, e quanto ao caso português, a Vogue Portugal explora margens de experimentação, prezando pela ousadia, liberdade de criação artística, e por marcar a diferença. Seguindo estes princípios, a investigação centra-se, em particular, numa análise editorial das duas publicações de maio das edições portuguesa e americana da revistas, sendo elas: The Arts & Crafts Issue e The Met Issue, respetivamente, de maio de 2025, onde se procura estabelecer paralelos no que à composição editorial das revistas diz respeito, para que se possa perceber em que pontos as duas se aproximam ou distanciam, e de que forma as duas materializam estéticas visuais, estratégias criativas e também os posicionamentos editoriais distintos. Esta análise, e posterior discussão evidenciam o contraste que existe entre as duas edições, revelando que a Vogue americana vem reforçar o seu papel enquanto instância normativa e global, nomeadamente através do próprio tema da publicação de maio de 2025, que é uma edição dedicada ao evento canónico da Met Gala (realizada na primeira segunda- feira desse mês), transformando o espetáculo mediático en narrativa de canonização da moda e cultura no contexto americano. Por outro lado, na publicação de maio de 2025, a Vogue Portugal afirma-se pela experimentação e pelo seu distanciamento crítico face ao evento mediático, priorizando na publicação abordagens mais conceptuais, reflexivas, mas locais (nisto, as duas publicações aproximam, onde ambas prezam pela celebração da identidade de algo que é local, mas com impactos globais distintos). Será possível concluir que o poder da Vogue vem desta dualidade entre centro e perifieria: a edição americana consolida a matriz e o cânone, e a portuguesa vai mais além nas possibilidades discursivas da revista, contribuindo para a evolução, renovação e estudo do campo editorial da moda a nível nacional e global, e da esfera cultural e identitária do país.This work is part of a Master's degree in Text Editing, and its theme is “The Evolution of Vogue Magazine – the case of Vogue Portugal and the influences of the international edition model of american Vogue.” The aim is to analyze, interpret, and reflect on the evolution and influence that the magazine's parent edition (American Vogue) has on the Portuguese edition, in order to understand to what extent it is (or is not) autonomous, and/or to what extent this influence and dependence on the parent edition is noticeable. This comparison and parallel between the two editions shows that, even though they are part of the same brand, they are governed by a coexistence of distinct editorial production, where each plays a role in the magazine's editorial universe. On the one hand, Vogue USA perpetuates the canon and matrix that peripheral editions must follow (and which they mainly follow in terms of the magazine's layout and organizational structure), valuing in its publications what is known to its audience. On the other hand, in the case of Portugal, Vogue Portugal explores margins of experimentation, valuing boldness, artistic freedom, and making a difference. Following these principles, the research focuses, in particular, on an editorial analysis of the two May issues of the Portuguese and American editions of the magazines, namely: The Arts & Crafts Issue and The Met Issue, respectively, from May 2025, seeking to establish parallels in terms of the editorial composition of the magazines, in order to understand where the two converge or diverge, and how they materialize visual aesthetics, creative strategies, and distinct editorial positions. This analysis, and subsequent discussion highlight the contrast between the two editions, revealing that American Vogue is reinforcing its role as a normative and global authority, particularly through the theme of the May 2025 issue, which is dedicated to the canonical Met Gala event (held on the first Monday of that month), transforming the media spectacle into a narrative of the canonization of fashion and culture in the American context. On the other hand, in its May 2025 issue, Vogue Portugal asserts itself through experimentation and its critical distance from the media event, prioritizing more conceptual, reflective, but local approaches in its publication (in this respect, the two publications are similar, as both value the celebration of the identity of something that is local but has distinct global impacts).
