Building on a mixed-methods approach, combining expert interviews, a patient survey, and business model analysis, the study examines technological, regulatory, economic, and stakeholder-related factors. The results reveal strong system-level efficiency and cost-saving potential, alongside significant challenges related to physician acceptance, dependencies and regulation. The findings provide strategic implications for digital health startups operating in highly regulated healthcare markets.engInnovationDigitalizationAISecond-opinionStartupHealthcareFinancingValue creationExpansionDigital transformationTechnologyBusiness modelWhat are the Key Opportunities and Barriers for the Development, Adoption, and Scaling of Artificial Intelligence-based Second Opinion Platforms in the German Orthopedic sector?
