It is proposed a three-phase linear induction motor with short primary and long secondary layers type. This topology is confronted with others. Studies carried out with Finite Ele- ment Methods allowed the development and design of linear motors of different speed ranges. An innovative test bench of reduced dimensions and costs are developed. This one is capable of making feasible the investigation of the behavior of linear induction motors and allows measuring normal and traction forces of a determined motor topology. In addition, it allows obtaining the electrical quantities of interest. The results obtained with the experimental tests are presented and analysed. This study indicates a promising horizon since the initial objective of reducing the impact of the traction system on the levitation system of this type of vehicles was achieved. The system of measurements presented in this work will also allow the evaluation of the interaction between the traction motor and the levitation system.porMotor de Indução LinearProjeto de MáquinasMétodo de Elementos FinitosESTUDO TEÓRICO E EXPERIMENTAL DE UM SISTEMA DE TRAÇÃO UTILIZANDO MOTOR DE INDUÇÃO LINEAR PARA VEÍCULOS DE LEVITAÇÃO MAGNÉTICA SUPERCONDUTORAdoctoral thesis
