Based on interviews, the study identifies three dimensions in which FDI in port terminals can impact national security. Economic Disruption is the most urgent one to be addressed. Further, the interviews reveal that adjustments to the screening regulation, such as harmonization and clear procedures, would benefit businesses by improving planning security and fairness. To address those pain points, the study suggests seven recommendations for European policymakers to improve FDI screening.engForeign direct investmentChinaPolitical riskPort terminalsEuropean UnionStrategySecurityPolicy makingInternational investmentCompetitionNetworked assetsChinese outward foreign direct investments into European networked assets: policy and business challenges in the case of port terminalsmaster thesis203516699
