Methodologically, this research uses primary sources from the Canary Islands, mainly notarial documents, as well as from publications that have examined the Portuguese agency in the Hispanic colonial world. Esta investigación parte del análisis de las especificidades de las islas Canarias en su entorno socioeconómico atlántico y del estudio de las redes portuguesas transfronterizas durante el periodo de la agregación portuguesa a la Monarquía Hispánica con el objetivo de aportar, desde una perspectiva cisatlántica, una visión innovadora de las dinámicas transnacionales atlánticas, particularmente entre los territorios americanos e insulares del Atlántico Medio.
