This research focuses on the artistic relationship between Portugal and Brazil, which took place in the 18th century and is associated with the Portuguese architectural tradition, namely the legacy of military engineering and the royal program of King João V (1706-1750). We will analyze three churches that, although erected in different continents, repeat the same architectural model: the octagonal nave and the diagonal position of the towers that flank the facade.
