Por conseguinte, a narrativa do livro, tido como um dos mais emblemáticos da obra do autor, pois conjuga o estilo e os temas que desenvolveu ao longo da sua vida, será analisada a partir de conceitos filosóficos, mitológicos e literários. Os temas referidos anteriormente serão enquadrados nos conceitos filosóficos que os refletiram. Contudo, a análise filosófica não se restringirá unicamente ao Existencialismo, com que se aborda em geral a obra literária de Vergílio Ferreira. Essa análise iniciar-se-á com o pensamento filosófico que nasceu na Antiguidade Clássica e será acompanhada pelas figuras mitológicas que Paulo encarna. The themes mentioned above will be framed in the philosophical concepts that reflected them. However, the philosophical analysis will not be limited to Existentialism, generally used to approach Vergílio Ferreira’s literary oeuvre. That analysis will be initiated with the philosophical thought that was born in the Classical Antiquity and it will be followed by the mythological figures that Paulo embodies.
