These reflect the visions of the time about the nature and the mission of popular television and allow to characterize the process of the “invention of the revolutionary television”, created to respond to the information needs of the people identified during the PREC revolutionary context (1974-1975). This process, marked by the relations of force that dictated the guidelines of successive administrations and directories of information and programming of RTP, does not confine to the political field. It was accompanied by a broad discussion about the role of television journalism in the construction of Portuguese democracy and society.11169483por25 AprilPeoplePRECRevolutionary televisionRTPCommunicationA invenção da televisão revolucionáriaThe invention of the revolutionary televisionThe RTP during the PREC (1974-1975)journal article10.14195/2183-5462_35_16A RTP durante o PREC (1974-1975)https://www.scopus.com/pages/publications/85078900115https://impactum-journals.uc.pt/mj/article/view/7281
