The current approach is based on a three-field mixed finite element model and the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers optimization algorithm. For this purpose, an equivalence between the classical Mohr-Coulomb criterion and the Extended-Matsuoka-Nakai is established and explored. Three numerical applications are presented to test and to illustrate the capabilities of this approach. The results are confronted with other authors’ solutions or experimental data.20855300poralternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM)Extended-Matsuoka-Nakai criterionlimit analysisplane strainEarth and Planetary Sciences (miscellaneous)GeologyGeotechnical Engineering and Engineering GeologyCivil and Structural EngineeringAnálise limite recorrendo ao critério de rotura de Matsuoka-Nakai estendido em condições de deformação planaLimit Analysis using the extended Matsuoka-Nakai yield criterion under plane strain conditionsjournal article10.14195/2184-8394_157_2https://www.scopus.com/pages/publications/85153500918
