FEUNL Working Paper Series No. 60http://hdl.handle.net/10362/83773This paper-studies the influence of the time single in the probability of a female divorcing. Time single is taken as a decisional variable in an environment with uncertainty. The point of departure is the recognition that females have a finite life-time and there are returns to search and education in the labor and marriage markets. The empirical results indicate that in States of the U.S. where it is easier to get divorced females marry earlier while Catholics marry later. In addition empirical results seem to indicate that the amount of time single and the amount of time studying should not be considered exogenous in the study of the probability of divorcing or the study of the mating function.engTime Single and Divorceworking paper
