Abstract

The present approach to the Indonesian edition of the single Portuguese fable collection of the 17th century focuses on its title page. In fact, the paratext allows us to analyse crucial aspects of the work of the literary editor responsible for the reprint, João Ferreira A. d’Almeida. Some of the topics discussed are the geopolitical and linguistic context of this publication, its baroque mold, the knowledge of fables the author could have gained in addition to its source (Manuel Mendes da Vidigueira’s collection) and the reprint purposes.
