O Jornalismo de Investigação na TVI

Abstract

Jornalismo de investigação é considerado a “joia da coroa do jornalismo” (Anderson, 2007, p.62), pela sua forma de contar e construir as histórias. A predisposição para aprofundar os temas com o objetivo de atingir uma peça “à prova de bala” (Coelho & Silva, 2018, p.83), é um dos muito traços que distinguem o jornalismo de investigação do jornalismo quotidiano. Para além da crise da sustentabilidade, são vários os desafios que limitam o campo da investigação. Fontes anónimas, falta de transparência, provas insuficientes, questões éticas, tempo limitado transformam-se em adversidades que têm de ser vencidas para a reportagem de investigação ser merecedora da “primeira página” (Randall,2016, p.129). Quando superadas, o encontro com a verdade e com o serviço público impõem-se valorizando, assim, a peça de investigação. Neste sentido, o presente relatório de estágio visa caracterizar o jornalismo feito no Exclusivo, programa que integra o Jornal Nacional, da TVI, e perceber se essa expressão jornalística existe (ou não), tendo em conta a complexidade e a presença residual de jornalismo de investigação. Ao longo deste estudo, ter-se-á em destaque a análise quantitativa de 24 peças transmitidas, ao longo do período de estágio (setembro a dezembro de 2023), e a análise qualitativa que se expressa na aplicação de critérios que estruturam o conceito e na observação participante de algumas fases de trabalho da equipa do Exclusivo.

Investigative journalism is considered the "jewel in the crown of journalism" (Anderson, 2007, p.62), because of the way it tells and builds stories. The predisposition to delve deeper into topics in order to achieve a "bulletproof" piece (Coelho & Silva, 2018, p.83), is one of the many traits that distinguish investigative journalism from everyday journalism. In addition to the sustainability crisis, there are several challenges that limit the investigative field. Anonymous sources, lack of transparency, insufficient evidence, ethical issues and limited time become adversities that have to be overcome for investigative reporting to be worthy of the "front page"(Randall, 2016, p.129). When they are overcome, the encounter with the truth and with public service are imposed, thus enhancing the value of the investigative piece. In this sense, this internship report aims to characterize the journalism done on Exclusivo, a programme that is part of TVI's Jornal Nacional, and to understand whether this journalistic expression exists (or not), taking into account the complexity and residual presence of investigative journalism. Throughout this study, the quantitative analysis of 24 pieces broadcast during the internship period (September to December 2023), will be highlighted, as well as the qualitative analysis expressed in the application of criteria that structure the conconcept and in the participant observation of some work phases of the Exclusivo team.
