A Produtividade Morfológica, definida como regular e dependente de regras, ocupa um papel central, enquanto a Criatividade Lexical é quase sempre referida somente por oposição à primeira. Para a realização do estudo que aqui se apresenta constituiu-se um corpus de análise a partir de três obras de crónicas de Mia Couto. Nesta dissertação argumenta-se que os processos de Criatividade Lexical, como é o caso da amálgama, apesar de muitas vezes marginalizados pelos morfólogos devido à sua aparente imprevisibilidade e irregularidade, se inserem nas regras da língua e, por este motivo, merecem ser mais estudados nos trabalhos de Morfologia Lexical.; The aim of this dissertation is to both analyze and problematize the relationship between two key concepts on the field of Lexical Morphology - ‘Morphological Productivity’ and ‘Lexical Creativity’. The Morphological Productivity, defined as regular and ruledependent, is a central issue in the field, whilst the Lexical Creativity is often referred as contrary to the first. A corpus constituted of three literary works of the writer Mia Couto was assembled for the study. We show that it was in the 16th-19th centuries that its distribution underwent significant changes, whereby it gradually spread, not only to the contexts in which it is found nowadays, but also to other contexts from which it is excluded in the standard variety (but not in nonstandard ones). We argue that this may be explained by assuming the existence of two inflected infinitives, one which is characterised by nominal properties and another one which exhibits properties of control.
